
Salma Hayek Pinault, born Salma Valgarma Jamesenez on September 2, 1966 is an American and Mexican actress and producer. Her film career began in Mexico, where she starred in the telenovela Teresa (1989-1991), and the romantic drama El Callejon de los Milagros (1995), which resulted in an Ariel Award nomination. Through appearances in films like Desperado (1995), From Dusk till Dawn (1996), Wild Wild West (1999) and Dogma (1999), she quickly established herself in Hollywood. Hayek's portrayal as Frida, the painter, in Frida (2002), which she also directed as well, was what made Hayek the first Mexican actress to receive the Academy Award [6]. It also earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination, Screen Actors Guild Award nomination and British Academy Film Award nominations.
